Week 93 - Miami, Oklahoma

"Not 'Aliens,' 'Elders'!" - a guy to his daughter when we first met them

Hey all!

Speed round this week because I wanna go play some sports with the other Elders but I ain't 'boutta skip a week this far into the mish:

Hazel's back! She watched a session of General Conference with us and absolutely loved it. Gotta get her a doctor's note for the coffee thing but she's still doing great.

Speaking of the Church's general conference, it rocked. Like holy cow. All five sessions had such inspiring Christ-centered messages. I love getting a little reminder every six months that the Paul wasn't joking when he said the Lord would build His Church on apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:19-22).

I had so many favorite messages, but one I'd like to share this week is called “'Draw Near unto Me'” by President Henry B. Eyring, an Apostle who serves as one of the counselors to the prophet. Here's his message:

Last but not least, Flagstaff AZ temple! Let's go! I was so excited when I heard the announcement. I've really wanted to live in Flagstaff after finishing school for awhile now, and that's one more great reason to do so. Big W.

Song of the week: Hymn #1027 "Welcome Home"

Cool BYU devotional: "The Power of Not Knowing" by Liz Wiseman. Latter-day Saint mom and early morning seminary teacher who also, y'know, is the founder and CEO of her own firm and casually advises Fortune 500 companies.

Love y'all!

Week 92 - Miami, Oklahoma

Hey all!

I'm short on time today so I'll be more brief this week. I'm determined to email every single week until my mission ends, though. Only missed a couple weeks so far πŸ˜

πŸ‘΄☕️  Marvin's doing awesome! Since we've met him last Monday, he's come to three lessons, two scripture studies, church, and a baptismal service out in Joplin. Who says 80-year-olds can't change? Marvin is all about learning and is determined to be reunited with his wife in the next life. His last big hurdle besides a couple of cups of coffee (yup, the rumors are true - we avoid coffee and all other addictive and/or destructive substances in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you're curious about why, feel free to ask me!) is gaining a witness that the Lord truly has restored His kingdom to the earth again preparatory to the Second Coming.

Lucky for him and for all of us, this Saturday and Sunday is the Church's semiannual General Conference! A common question our friends have when we tell them we believe in modern prophets is, "Well...what do they say?" Throughout this special conference, we get to find out.

πŸ‘΅☕️  Lots of coffee talk this week. Our 96-year-old friend Hazel (my little sister Hazel turned 18 this week by the way πŸ₯³) had immediately decided to drop coffee for a week when we first taught her the Word of Wisdom, but...uh...it kinda backfired. She's so old now that her system physically can't handle caffeine withdrawals and she was super ill all weekend, so her doctor told her if she doesn't want to actually die she had to keep drinking coffee. One morning and five cups later, she was pretty much back to normal. Guess she gets a doctor's note on this one πŸ€·‍♂️

πŸ§”πŸ₯‘ Our friend Richard, the lost recent convert from Idaho who we went to a Chinese buffet with a few weeks ago, has come to church every single week since then! He's become buddies with the two other members we ate lunch with that day and they hang out all the time. He describes their group as "basically those two grumpy old Muppets who make fun of Kermit from the audience." He's a lot nicer than he gives himself credit for, though.

⛏️πŸ” Goodness gracious, they really are making a Minecraft movie. I'll miss it in theaters, but at least I can buy the Minecraft movie collectible meal at McDonald's. Worth.

Song of the week: "Spies" by Coldplay

~

Our mission president, President Hathaway, has a vision vision that this mission is capable of baptizing and confirming hundreds of souls each month. And, for the first time in mission history, we broke the one-hundred mark with 108 baptisms in the month of March! Now, we didn't end up having any convert baptisms this month, but we worked hard and saw miraculous success in other ways. Besides, a win for one is a win for us all. Sharing the restored gospel is the ultimate team sport. Check it:

But I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren, who have been up to the land of Nephi. Behold, they have labored exceedingly, and have brought forth much fruit; and how great shall be their reward! Now, when I think of the success of these my brethren my soul is carried away, even to the separation of it from the body, as it were, so great is my joy.

- Alma 29:14-16

So go share the good news! Millions of the elect of God are waiting to hear it and the Lord is "hastening His work." I promise you that inviting others to "come and see" is worth it. If every single one of you reading this email prayerfully invites as many friends and family members as the Lord will put into our hearts and only one person out of all those we invited comes to know that Jesus Christ's kingdom is back and it's back for good, then we will all have collectively helped bring a child of God to the path back home to Him. Wouldn't that be amazing?

Love,
Elder Oliver Rigby

Week 67 - Fayetteville, Arkansas

Hey all!

I think I've felt every single emotion this week. Like, the whole color wheel. From General Conference to transfer news to crazy lessons my own lovely demons, I'm just all outta feels, man.

♤ Transfers! So long, Elder Foster. It's been a good ride. He's heading up to Stockton, MO and I'll be staying in the YSA and serving with Elder Wasden! I've served near him before and he's a real cheery guy.

♧ Crazy lessons! We taught our first lesson to an atheist dude who was just so full of questions and he and totally I ADHD'ed out so hard while Elder Foster sat there and looked at us like we were crazy, which was a fair assumption. The best part was that when we told him that General Conference was that weekend, he basically said "Wait, your prophet is speaking in two days?? I'm watching that for sure." ("Chyesss!" - Ignacio)

◇ Rough weekend. 'Nuff said for now. Thank goodness that Christ is always there for us in our dark times.

♡ General Conference! All of the speakers were outstanding and I was so fired up and ready to share the Gospel by the time it ended haha. The Saturday evening session was probably my favorite. I'm so thankful for prophets of God and the chance we have to come to know the Savior better through their words.

☆ Went on a hike for P-day today at Devil's Den State Park and man, Arkansas is criminally underrated. This place is gorgeous. Check out some pics: https://photos.app.goo.gl/2sk1refRidSszyYk7

○ Want a cool statistic? Numbers aren't everything, of course, but check this out: last year, 25,000 students attended high school seminary with their friends in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and 9,000 of them chose to be baptized and confirmed - over one-third. The math says that if three of your friends come to Seminary with you, statistically speaking, one of them will choose to join the Lord's fold. If you and your classmates each brought just one friend to seminary per quarter, you'd double your class size in less than a school year.

Thought: The Triumph of Hope by Neil L. Andersen

What better way to hear the news?

Elder Andersen was the first speaker in this year's October Generall Conference, and in it, he talked all about his grand-nephew, Trey. The funny thing is, we were actually in the same ward at BYU! Lived on the same floor and everything. He was a pretty quiet dude, but I recognized him instantly. It made me so happy to see him up on the screen and even happier to hear he'd gotten accepted to the BYU accounting program and even planned to serve a full-time mission! ...And then Elder Andersen told more of his story.

Honestly, I didn't know him super well despite having gone to church with him every Sunday for two semesters, but something about the idea that one of the guys I chatted with in the hall a year and a half ago just isn't alive anymore hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm assuming a lot of us from the 122nd ward found out last weekend, too, and while everyone deals with loss differently, it probably wasn't easy to process for many of us.

But I'll say it again: what better way to hear the news? A living Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ was inspired to use Trey's story to teach the eternal truth that because of the Savior, hope will always triumph. Thanks to Christ, our story doesn't end here.

Mosiah 16:8-9:

But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.

Week 66 - Fayetteville, Arkansas

 Hey all!

Another week down. I have thirteen other drafts sitting in my Gmail right now and yet again I just don't have the time to finish them all this week. I'm sorry! I'll get back to you soon! For now, here are some highlights from my week:

First off, here's a crazy cool miracle. Way back in December, my zone briefly did a pilot program in finding people to teach through Facebook. It had a lot of haters, but a few missionaries (you know who you are) were total social media finding champs until it eventually got shut down. I'll say I claimed the middle ground between those two haha. We did our due diligence but only ever ended up getting like three people to accept our friend requests so we could message them. One of them, a guy named Asher (last name omitted for privacy reasons,) we sent this nice lil video we made just for him the day after Christmas and despite all that effort he totally ghosted us.

However!

Here we are sitting in a big missionary meeting called Zone Conference last Friday and we got on the topic of working with those who have recently converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ to help them share His message with their family and friends and some Elders from a couple towns over piped up "yeah, ever since our buddy Asher ------ was baptized back in March, he's been totally awesome at sharing the Gospel with his friends" and I absolutely spewed my metaphorical hot chocolate. Completely by accident, I totally blurted out right in the middle of the meeting, "Did you just say Asher ------!?!?!? We messaged that guy on Facebook last Christmas! WHAT?!?"

Awkward.

Anyways...it really was him. Through what I am sure was nothing short of the whispering of the Holy Spirit and guidance of the hand of God, this guy we messaged one day after Christmas found his local Church meetinghouse all on his own and decided to just pull up to church one day. He met with the missionaries, learned and prayed about the message of the Restored Gospel, and chose to be baptized and confirmed into the Lord's fold. And get this - he's a Sunday School teacher now! God is real and good.

~

Other cool news:

- Our friend Luis told us after our last group Book of Mormon study, "Wow, going to the temple sounds so cool. I guess I've just gotta be baptized now." Attaboy, Luis.

- Marli's been real sick for the last few weeks. The doctors said she'll be better in a few weeks but she'll be out for at least a month. This is such a critical time in her conversion, so if you wouldn't mind, I'd really appreciate it if you could keep her in your prayers.

- I'm becoming a plant dad again. Every time we knock the door of someone with a ton of plants and they're not interested, I ask them if they have any plants they don't really want and they've hooked me up almost every single time. In the last week alone, I've acquired a monstera, a Brazilian philo dendron, a spider plant, and a pot of marigolds.

- For those of you who know what it is, go to Emotional Resilience class when you get the chance. If you don't, look it up. It is so inspired.

~

General Conference is this weekend!

One of the most critical doctrines of Jesus Christ's Gospel is that He speaks to His disciples through His mouthpieces, the prophets (Amos 3:7,) and one of the most distinct beliefs of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that He still does so today.

Members: please invite your friends to watch Conference with you! Think of the wonderful ways Christ could change someone's life because of your courageous invitation to them to act in faith.

Friends: If you're curious about what prophets and temples and priesthood and all that other fancy vocab I and my missionary friends often use, look no further than the source. If you want to see for yourself if God speaks to his people today, then "come and see."

~

Scripture of the week: Moses 6:53, 59-60

And our father Adam spake unto the Lord, and said: Why is it that men must repent and be baptized in water?

...

 That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory;

For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are justified, and by the blood ye are sanctified.

Week 48 - Monett, Missouri

 Photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/2sk1refRidSszyYk7

Hey all!

Not a lot of time this week but I at least wanted to write something. This week has been a rollercoaster in so many ways. Here's some stuff we've been up to:

- MLC! Learned a ton from the powerful workshops from President and Sister Collins and the APs, then grubbed with some of the Monett vets at lunch. It's crazy how many missionaries I'm friends with that have served in my current area at some point or another.

- Bentonville and Rogers got totally trashed by a tornado this week. It was so weird driving through my old area on the way to MLC and seeing trees down and wreckage everywhere.

- Took the most gorgeous one-lane road through the Ozarks back to Monett from Bentonville and felt like I was on the Cars ride but it was actually real. W.

- Went back to that Church-member-owned trading card store and pulled this crazy hundred-dollar PokΓ©mon card from a cheap booster pack. That one's not super spiritual, I know, but hey, it was a tender mercy. It counts.

- Went on an exchange with Elder Wasden, a missionary Elder Bigelow (one of my past companions) is training right now! He's such a cheerful, friendly guy. We had a great day together and I know he's gonna go far as a missionary.

~

Thought: why does God cut us down sometimes?

This is a video based off of one of my all-time favorite stories, "The Currant Bush." It's based off of Elder D. Todd Christofferson's April 2011 talk "'As Many as I Love, I Rebuke and Chasten"” which itself was based off of Elder Hugh B. Brown's BYU devotional entitled "God is the Gardener." Both messages are fantastic, and if you love this story then I'd invite you to study them both.

God always delivers His people. Stick with Him until the end and you'll be so, so glad you did.

Elder Rigby

Week 15: oh boy here we go - Bentonville, Arkansas

Hey all!

This week, a whole lot of stuff happened. Like a lot. I'm short on time (again) so I'll just jump right into it:

- General Conference! We watched one session with our friend Eduardo and his family and the rest with various church members in our area and it was a blast. Some themes I noticed were viewing life with an eternal (cough cough celestial cough) perspective, how listen to the Holy Spirit and feel it stronger in your life, and being brothers and sisters in our Savior Jesus Christ. My personal favorite line comes from Elder Henry B. Eyring's talk, "Our Constant Companion," on how we can feel guidance from the Holy Spirit more strongly and consistently:

"The key for me and for you is to want what the Savior wants. Our motives need to be driven by the pure love of Christ. Our prayers need to be 'All I want is what you want. Thy will be done.'"

- Transfer calls! This time around, I'm...training!? That's right, folks. Elder Cebollero just got promoted to Zone Leader in the Mountain Home Arkansas area while I stay here in the Bentonville First Ward to train a new missionary named Elder Kemp starting tomorrow! Yes, the Padawan has become the Jedi Master, but something tells me I'm going to learn a lot about humility this transfer...so send some prayers our way, yeah? I know everything will work out if we just follow Christ as best we can, get out of the apartment, and just go crazy. Whether or not we know what we're doing, hard work is still hard work. God will still accept our offering. I know we're gonna see some crazy cool stuff these next few months.

Fun stuff this week:

- moved furniture for a nice lady who got a frontal lobe lobotomy about thirty years ago. She was wonderfully unique.

- I decided I like sleeping on the floor more so I moved my bedframe out and just sleep futon style on my mattress. Floor gang.

- Youth Missionary Night: the ward put on a missionary activity for all the under-eighteen youth because they're awesome so we basically just got to talk about why we chose to serve a mission and testify for like 45 minutes.

- Got a flu shot, then spent 15 minutes feeling for a lego robin hood minifigure at the Walmart pharmacy.

Thought:

D&C 112:10.

"Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers."

Simple as that.
For a deep dive into what exactly humility is, try listening to this talk from last week's General Conference by Elder Joni L. Koch

Love you all! Still working on those responses, so thanks for being patient with me. Elder Rigby out.

Week 14: Japanese-Speaking Political Botanist Zoologist Missionary - Bentonville, Arkansas

Current career plans ^

"Salut! Comment Γ§a va?" - Justin

First off, thank you so much to everyone who emailed/messaged/wrote me on/around my birthday! You made me feel special on a day that I was worried would just be normal. Thank you. I wish I could get back to all of you but I ran out of time yet again and will probably have to push off sending a response until next week.

This week I've learned that optimism is everything. Current strategy: indomitable cheeriness. I'll stomp on the Devil's plans with the devastating power of a can-do attitude.

The news:

- Interviews with President and Sister Collins. They're such cool leaders. I talked with President Collins about keeping the Gospel simple and focused on the Savior and with Sister Collins about how we can be good missionaries regardless of whether people accept our message.

- Cut my own hair for the first time. It was equally fun and nerve-wracking.

- The smoke alarm went off at 4:30 am yesterday so we spent a half an hour testing it to make sure we weren't gonna die.

- finally used the 5 bucks we got in the park a month ago to buy some insanely good red velvet ice cream.

BIRTHDAY:

The big day. I woke up, donned my new birthday tie, ate a donut, and went to church. We then knocked doors until dinner with the Cronins, an amazing family who went out of their way to bake me a cake and sing me happy birthday. They even sent a video of it to my mom haha. Bonus points for that one. After then it was back to the work until the day was done. I called my family, opened some packages and presents with them, and hit the hay. 19 years, baby.

Other fun stuff:

- Mom wrapped some Super Mario Legos in a picture of the cover of Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes, one of my favorite albums. Absolutely legendary birthday present.

- Got a bonus birthday box from my cousins :)

- I had the Animal Crossing birthday song stuck in my head literally all day. It made me surprisingly sentimental for whatever reason. Big nostalgia.

- We set up four lessons in one day! God gave us some birthday miracles for sure.

Person of the week:

Arsh: a cool Sikh dude who played pro cricket in India before he moved here. He gave us an Indian history lesson on the Mughals so we taught him him about Jesus Christ in return and gave him a Book of Mormon.

Thought:

1) D&C 81.

Sister Collins invited me to apply this section to myself and it really helped me when I was struggling.

Lesson learned: The blessings of missionary work are not dependent on how we are received. I can faithfully "be about my Father's business" regardless of the actions of others.

2) 2 Nephi 4:27-35.

My little sister Hazel sent me this one this morning so you know I've gotta throw it in.

I would love to unpack his whole psalm/internal monologue (soliloquy? Can I get a fact check, Mrs. Plunk?) but I'm out of time so suffice to say Nephi spits some bars here. The whole section is him writing about just wanting to be a good Christian and I dig it. Props, Hazel.

Welp, that about wraps it up for this week. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes! Love you guys.

Elder Rigby

P.S. General Conference is this weekend! Every six months, the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all gather for a special broadcast of inspired messages from a living prophet, Apostles, and other authorities. Think five two-hour sessions of sermons specifically tailored for modern-day Christians right in this moment. It's just cool.

I had a big paragraph written out about why you should check out General Conference but I'll just say this: if this isn't real, then you'll have wasted two hours of your Sunday morning. If it is, then God has led you to something wonderful.

Come and see. Come, bring questions, and listen for the Savior in the words you hear. You will receive your answers proportionally to the faith you exercise. 'Nuff said.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for reading this far. Later!

Week 12: The Plot Thickens - Bentonville, Arkansas

Hey all!

This episode, an Elder gets shuffled, I pray for a mailbox, and our best friend goes AWOL. Buckle up, it's a long ride today.

Quick News:

Real talk, last week was hard. We gave it our all every day and found exactly 0 people. However, Elder Cebellero and I grew a lot closer as a companionship as a result. The Lord saw fit to humble us through this time and once we finally got that in our heads, we were able to become more unified as companions. Plus, He blessed us with three new friends for our efforts this week: Sofia, Eduardo, and Fernando! I'll give an update on how their lessons go next week.

- The Bentonville, Arkansas temple is getting dedicated this Sunday! I just barely missed the open house so I can't wait to finally see inside. For anyone who's wondering what in the world a temple is for, check out this cool tour of the Rome, Italy temple: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__m.youtube.com_watch-3Fv-3DdhWgPwEQQ98&d=DwMFAg&c=z0adcvxXWKG6LAMN6dVEqb0UviF1pXyDevTjy_jKVOk&r=N3V4p6LL0bE9YbknWrlp1I7jdVR1DT8UEsxCpy3W2Yc&m=TwFtBAeh0O_Si72RY9u2GU3U0NTBSULx5fYbG9uwj7YMjNVwuEfWsQSZZ5vkoJZ5&s=Wwnp6elMBJ9Bx0mrrUC8nEUz2agJQfjKvClP6CXn6Lk&e=
Sorry for the long YouTube link, my phone's weird.

- tragedy strikes: a missionary in our zone went home last night and Elder McKee's being emergency reassigned to the Grove, Oklahoma area :( . I'm losing a homedog all too soon. On the bright side, a new missionary returning to the field is going to be joining us and Elder Atuaia's going to train him this time around, so the boys'll back to full strength soon enough.

- Harrison went completely off the grid out of nowhere. These last few weeks have been awesome with him but then he canceled a lesson with us on Friday saying a ton of stuff came up at work and he had to stay and fix it and we've heard nothing from him since then. From what we've seen through his window it honestly seems like he hasn't been home much, if at all, in the last few days. Tricky stuff.
But so it goes. The adversary's making an extra effort on him as it always does when a friend is preparing for baptism but we won't give up on him that easy.

WEEK IN REVIEW

THURSDAY

Zone Conference (a big meeting with our mission leaders teaching various workshops.) We talked about how to leave home blessings, keeping Jesus Christ as the center of God's Plan of Happiness/Salvation, and a cool proclamation titled The Living Christ.

- 5 hours of sleep = not good.
Mental self-evaluation: Kinda grumpy; discouraged; jealous of the more experienced missionaries around me. But y'know what, I felt the Spirit a lot at Zone Conference today and that was cool.

- prayed over the postal service at a mailbox with a guy named Jacob. He really loved the postal service.

- Atuaia and McKee picked up a Burger King delivery quest from a random person who got someone else's Doordash. Mission failed unfortunately.

FRIDAY

- Exchanges with Elder Klingler, day 2: today was an exercise in navigating my own area without someone else who knew it better. Definitely a day in the growth zone. Elder Klingler's cool though.

- gave my first home blessing ever to Jill and Ken Ehret (the guy who told us to buy land a month or so ago.) They're such a good family. We may have some differences but these people have real charity and that goes a long way.

SATURDAY

- Woke up in a mini faith crisis. I felt a little better now after prayer, scripture study, "Lord I Believe" by Elder Holland, and time. As I went to bed, I looked back on my day happy and satisfied and ready to work more tomorrow. I had some serious angelic help today.

- flashback to Campo Craft. If you know you know.

- Picnic in the park with the Grosses for dinner. Good times.

- Found a fully functioning roomba that Elder McKee had been using as a pillow. Now the apartment has a pet.

SUNDAY

- mailbox Jacob showed up to church to return the Book of Mormon we gave him and then leave because "the the mail came late therefore this church must not be true," among other interesting reasons, and promptly went home. He was an odd enough bird from the start to make me think he was probably being genuine. Kinda surreal.

- Ate some raw tuna like a champ.

- Sofia and Thomas: she's a Chilean Facebook referral taught as a kid who's really interested in the Book of Mormon and he's a fellow Christian who totally Bible-bashed us but in the oh-so-kindest of ways. Keep going, Sofia! Go pray about it, Thomas.

- Elder Ceb gave me a hug today. Huh. That doesn't happen very often. It was pretty nice.

- Accidentally interrupted a Marshallese church service in this random house we knocked on. Whoops.

- met four returned missionaries in one home, all of them now inactive in the church. Dang. You think you'll be invincible once you get home from spreading the Gospel for two years but we're commanded to endure to the end for a reason. Pretty sobering.

MONDAY

- picked up a stick bug. Now I really feel like Newt Scamander.

- Brother McKinney is so cool. He's a firefighter and a (relatively) recently returned missionary from the Fresno mission who's an ace at coming out to tract with us.

- Got the cops called on us for "aggressively trying to open the front door multiple times" and like four police Chevies just kinda spawned into the hood. They said hi, told us we were all good, mentioned it might rain soon, and sent us on our way.

TUESDAY

- finally found someone: Eduardo!

- The B2 Sisters picked up a raccoon. No context really. People just have interesting pets sometimes.

- Dinner with a young couple, the Heltons: she owns almost the same Victrola record player as me, has good taste in jazz and makes fantastic sausage and tortellini soup. He served his mission in Mesa, built a PC, had an old gameboy color, and likes brockhampton and Childish Gambino. I've found my people.

- Second find: Fernando!

- Talked about U.S. Embassy stuff with Elder Powell. He's from an expat family who was born in Finland and lived in Japan, Kuwait, and a few other countries. Sick. Plus, his dad had Elder Powell give me his email and told me to hit him up after my mission for some networking connections. Double sick.

- our carpets got replaced this week so the other Elders decided to use this chance to relocate the entire gym setup to the living room. Our interior design has my inner Animal Crossing fan in crisis.
This week's aspect of charity to focus on: Longsuffering.

- Star Wars nerd fest with Elder McKee. I get so few chances to nerd out with people while on my mission. Boy, that was satisfying.

WEDNESDAY

- Brother Agard: a member walked over, and gave us 20 bucks like 30 seconds after we found out we didn't have any money for food this week.

- Knocked in a trio with Elder Ceb and Elder Atuaia. Blessed two homes tonight baybee

- also got cussed out for the first time but that's less important.

Thought:

1) Moroni 7:45-48 in context.
Here, a prophet speaks on charity to the few faithful Christians left standing. The Nephite civilization is collapsing once and for all and the wicked are actively hunting him down and yet he still teaches to love and forgive as Christ would.

2) A lesson from my dad on expectations:

Excitement: anticipation of a good thing happening.

Fear: anticipation of a bad thing happening.

Enthusiasm: walking with God no matter what's coming.

"Living outside the 'now' is just painful. Don't miss out on being with the Supreme Creator. If you're with God on your birthday, it could be your best birthday ever."

Fair enough. I want to be an enthusiastic missionary because I want to find joy in the present.

Well, that's about it for this week. I'm trying to work hard and stay diligent, although I still need to work on my bedtime. I've gotta plan my pdays better haha.

Love you all!
